The Jacobs Institute of Womens Health and the Washington Business Group on Health (WBGH) has co-published Value Purchasing: Investing in Women's Health - Strategies for Employers. This report of recommendations from a national summit meeting offers employers ideas and strategies for improving the health of their women employees. The recommendations contained in this report are not limited to health care services; ideas in the realms of human resources, worksite health promotion, employee assistance programs, and work-life programs are also offered.

Value Purchasing devotes a chapter to each of the following areas of womens health: primary and preventive care, reproductive health, mental health, and chronic health conditions. Each chapter outlines the business case for employers to take action and then proposes specific strategies. Numerous examples and case studies of successful programs are included, and additional resources are listed at the end of each chapter.
