The Jacobs Institute of Women's Health Joins the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services

In May 2006, the Jacobs Institute of Women's Health joins the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services, where it will expand its long-standing work on behalf of women's health to include educational leadership in women's health policy.  With a home in the Department of Health Policy, the Institute will serve as the central focus of the School's effort to advance the health of all women through research and scholarship, policy development, public health-oriented community service, and educational programming for degree candidates, health professionals, and health researchers.  The Institute will continue its popular activities and projects, such as multidisciplinary conferences on key women's health issues, Capitol Hill briefings, educational websites, the Databook, and our electronic newsletter, while developing new collaborations with other programs within the School, Medical Center, and University in order to bring a women's health focus to a broad array of health and social policy concerns.  The Institute also will continue to publish its highly respected peer-reviewed journal, Women's Health Issues, under the leadership of Editor Carol S. Weisman, PhD.

The School of Public Health and Health Services joins the Jacobs Institute in extending our deepest thanks to its Board of Governors under the Chairmanship of Nikki Heidepreim and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for their leadership throughout this transition process.  We are also grateful for the crucial and ongoing support of our donors who make the work of the Jacobs Institute possible.

As with all projects of the School, the Institute depends on grants, contracts and donations for support.  Contributions should be made to the Jacobs Institute of Women's Health at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services, and should be directed to the attention of Professor Sara Rosenbaum, Chair of the Department of Health Policy.
