Romero Joins Jacobs Institute
Board of Governors
January 4, 1999, Washington, DC With the addition of noted womens health expert and businesswoman, Vicki L. Romero, to the Board of Governors, the Jacobs Institute of Womens Health gains a valuable ally in its mission to improve womens health.
Ms. Romero is CEO of Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview, Texas. She brings with her a comprehensive knowledge of womens health issues and the insurance industry, as well as expertise in business and accounting. In addition, she is responsible for womens and childrens program development for the Pacific Group of Columbia/HCA. Ms. Romero served as the Baton Rouge Market President of the Columbia Healthcare System of Louisiana. She was also the President and CEO of the Womens Health Foundation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Ms. Romero is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the National Perinatal Information Center and the National Perinatal Association, and she is Chair of the Board of Steps to Success, a statewide initiative in Louisiana focused on early childhood development. She has been the recipient of several professional awards and honors for her work in the field of healthcare. Some of her awards include the 1997 Top Market Good Government Award from Columbia Healthcare, and she was recognized in 1994 as an Emerging Leader during the Healthcare Forum in San Francisco, California. Ms. Romero is also an accomplished businesswoman. In 1994 she was awarded the Woman of Achievement Award from the American Society of Women Accountants and the 1993 Marketer of the Year Award from Sales & Marketing Executives International.

The Jacobs Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the knowledge, practice, and understanding of womens health care. The organization, founded by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, is in its eighth year.
