Davidson Joins Jacobs Institute
Board of Governors
January 4, 1999, Washington, DC -- With the addition of noted obstetrician-gynecologist, Ezra C. Davidson, Jr., MD, FACOG, to the Board of Governors, the Jacobs Institute of Women's Health gains a valuable ally in its mission to improve women's health.
Dr. Davidson, Associate Dean of Primary Care at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Los Angeles, brings with him extensive hands on knowledge of womens health issues. Before joining the Drew University of Medicine and Science, Dr. Davidson served as a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Davidson was Drews first Chair and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (1971-1996). He also holds professorships in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UCLA and Dartmouth Schools of Medicine.
Dr. Davidson was recently Chair for the Food and Drug Administrations Advisory Committee for Reproductive Health Drugs and is currently a member of the Institute of Medicine/National Academy of Sciences, a member of the National Institute of Health (NIH) Advisory Committee to the Director. He has also held several leadership positions, including President of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist, President of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and President of the North American Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Gynecology. He is also a member of major medical organizations, including the American Public Health Association, the National Medical Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Gynecological Society.
In addition to serving on the Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME), he is also Chair of the Board of Directors of the California Wellness Foundation.

The Jacobs Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the knowledge, practice, and understanding of women's health care. The organization, founded by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, is in its eighth year.
